How we treat others, how we give of our talents and resources, I believe clearly reveals the nature of how we process the world around us. If we’re being protective, critical, or in any way condemning of other people, the degree of control we attempt to maintain in our own personal lives is reflected, even projected on to another. I think generosity then becomes an outward expression of our inward sense of control. If we’re not afraid to give up what doesn’t even belong to us anyway – that says something about our character, our controlling nature. Yet, I want to live in a place where none of my “stuff” matters – Not my belongings, my reputation, or my knowledge. A spirit of generosity is our destination.
